    Eye Contact…

Have YOU ever really looked into your own eyes? Try it, you have a mirror near by. Really look into them, could you recognize just your own eyes? Could anyone else?

Next time you are having a conversation with someone, in person, look into their eyes.

If eye contact is something you are both out of habit of doing, this could be uncomfortable. Don’t be creepy, and if the other person seems unused to this, just tell them you are making an effort to make more eye contact and see what it does.

I bet you listen better and they feel heard more.

    What is YOUR first name?

Do YOU know what your name means? Not the origins linguistically, but what it meant to those that picked it.

Do YOU know why you were named this?

If you don’t and you can, ask someone in your family. Then you can ask yourself, if the meaning actually applies to you, whether you knew it before or not.

    Know Thyself through PHILOSOPHY:

    Try this:

Stop judgy commenting on anything, anywhere, and just READ for one day.

Perhaps if you spent all your energy on reading, you will find that most posts are not the opinions of said individual, but regurgitation of someone else’s propaganda. They didn’t conjure up the words, in that order, just to educate us on their opinion.

Most people who post don’t know what they think, what they REALLY think. Instead of spending time with themselves, they puke out other people’s words. How these words that did not spring from their mind are received by people they do not know further validates the plagiarized thoughts. If people like or dislike, the person who made the comment may feel they are part of a team and/or look popular. Much less effort than thinking your own thoughts just for your own sake….I guess.

If you know what you think, you do not have to post it to prove you are smart, or eloquent, or should be ‘included’. Popularity does not reinforce nor detract from your truth.

If you know what you think, you don’t need to prove it to anyone, nor do you need to convince yourself.

Unless you are a subject matter expert or someone asked, no one needs to know your judgy comment, especially since you probably don’t even think it anyways….

I’m actually asking, what do YOU think, no one will see your comment, does that change what you would write?… more “Know Thyself Post #9”

How many Teams are you on?

Death of Hypatia defines Teams as follows:

Teams: / tiːmz n: A group of equal and mutually respected individuals who, when acting as/or on behalf of said group, consider what is better for the group above that which may be better for them as individuals

    Rules/Caveats/Considerations:

    • You can NOT be on a Team of one
    • You can be on  a Team as a couple, but, both must be equal
    • You can be on a Team when playing sports. You are not on the Team if you act in a way that is better for you but NOT better for the Team
    • You can NOT be on a Team if you own it or profit from it
    • Team members do NOT lie to one another
    • Team members do NOT cheat/profit off one another
    • Team members do NOT ask you to hate

    Know Thyself through HISTORY(yours):

    Try this:

Think about someone in your life that has been selflessly kind to you.

Not nice to you because they found you attractive.

Not nice to you because of any perception of your wealth.

Therefore, this means it probably eliminates anyone you met as an adult.

Try and picture someone (probably from childhood) that always acted in a way they thought best for you, even if it was a detriment to themselves. Can you picture them?

Next time you are making a decision that bothers you morally, make the decision like this person were watching you.

    Imagine if leaders did that…

    What’s YOUR favorite color?

If you ask any 11 year old girl this question, I bet, more often than not, they answer quickly and unequivocally.

I would also further wager they could tell you why and possibly when this conclusion was made. They know what they think about color because they have actually taken the time to think about it. They were still for a moment, turned off the world, and really thought about it.

When was the last time YOU really thought about something?

So…What’s YOUR favorite color?… more “Know Thyself Post #6”

    Try this:

Go outside into the analog world with no electronics.

Stand on the closest thing to the Earth as possible.

Look around until the voices in your head stop telling you about what you have to do. This could take awhile. Be patient.

    Look at the sky…..watch it.

Stay outside until you notice something beautiful.

    What did YOU notice?

    Look at YOUR Art:

Try this: walk around wherever you call home, find a picture/painting/piece of art hanging on the wall, and go look at it…..Really look at it. Take minutes doing this. Sit down and look at it from a distance and then go right up to it and look at its minutiae.

    Do YOU like it?

    Where did it come from?

What does it mean to YOU/why is it hanging in your home?

    Skateboarders…..

I think kids that learned/are learning to skateboard are Better.

They spend hours trying, watching, learning, and most importantly failing.

    Just because they want to.

I’m impressed by the focus and fearlessness that is necessary to get good at something that physically hurts and takes a LOT of time.

If I were ever interviewing someone, I would ask them to name something they spent a lot of time doing when they were young. Points would go to the skateboarders.

You have proven focus and aren’t afraid of failing.

    I’d hire you.

Makes me think of the things I really focused on throughout my life. Like go-to-bed-waking-up-obsessed-with kind of focus. I don’t remember feeling anxious. I remember being happy.

What have YOU really focused on throughout your life?

Ever notice when you are in a car waiting to take a left, the oncoming traffic often speeds up (front of the car goes down on acceleration), like they wish to hit you?!

Is this truly the goal?  Would the oncoming driver prefer to hit you, than have to slow down? Perhaps the intention is to intimidate you to not dare occupy the space in front of them? Don’t YOU know who THEY are?!

Seems to me, they are dicks.

Next time you are driving, see if ‘they’ do this.

Better yet. Notice if YOU do this…

    I believe Focus is Key.

Try this: Take a walk. Go outside if possible. Focus on consciously utilizing all five of your toes with each step you take.

How is YOUR posture? Are YOUR shoulders up and scrunched or down and back like your shoulder blades could almost touch?

If not, try and correct this consciously…. have you noticed how you can actually just tell your body what to do? You can actually make yourself taller, try it.

Do YOU feel more in control?

Imagine focusing like this on everything YOU do. What do YOU Think?
